Help EVO not charging while connected by USB (and used as disk drive)

I've noticed that when I connect my EVO to the computer via USB and selecting to use it as a Disk Drive, the phone doesn't get charged. The charging LED is on, but the battery percentage doesn't change. even when connected ofr over an hour, it stays at the same percentage. Is this normal?

Do you have another cable to try. It may be the cable or bad usb port on the computer It should be charging.

false alarm, it now works for some reason. i've used this same cable and port before. i'm hoping it's not something with the power port on the phone that i've read about :/

It could also be the cable. I have worn out two cables since June. If you find that is the case, and it is an HTC cable, sprint stores will exchange it for you.

I'm having some issue with the front ports on my pc. The media card reader I have is goofing and now the front ports charge the phone but can't read it as a drive...similar I guess...lol

^that could just be drivers. usb drivers or the drivers for your reader and phone.

I should have added the rear ports work fine, it's just the front ports and a card reader with another usb port on it. I think it's a hardware issue. The card reader stopped working as well, and now none of the front ports work right: some devices are recognized, some are not, phone charges but no drive, it shows that a card is inserted but can't see files, etc.

I think tracerit's issue might be hardware related... wasn't trying to hijack the thread...lol

No worries. I have an old desktop that has that issue...and just had a laptop replaced at 2yrs old for that issue. Black tie protection ftw

i've never had this issue before until i got my refurb'ed phone. so usb port, cable, everything else is the same. it turns out it may possibly be a loose connect inside the port. because i was able to use the SD card through the phone but it just never charged while connected for over an hour. i just have to be more careful to make sure to plug in the cable all the way in because with this current phone, there are two distinct "clicks" until it's entirely secure with no give/play.
