Why does it take so long to restart my EVO? Is there anything that be done to make it quicker?
Depending on what you mean by "forever", it may be normal behavior for the Evo.
How long is it? A minute or two? If so, that's normal.
How often are you turning your Evo fully off and on? This shouldn't be a major issue for most people because most people do not need to turn their Evo off very often at all.
Install the latest HTC update. I downloaded it this week and it fixed the slow start up. My EVO boots up from powered off position in approx 3-4 seconds now.
Most people will not risk updating their EVO & losing root. So that is not the best thing to suggest.
On another note, maybe clearing you cache will help. How many apps do you have installed and ware you rooted?
Not sure what version of Evo you are on, but with GB update you can try going to:
Menu --> Settings --> Power --> put a check mark next to Fast Boot
I have a good amount of apps and have not rooted my phone.
