    Hi Friends:

It's my first time to flash a Radio...Can you confirm me the Flash Procedure for EVO_Radio_2.15.00.08.08?

    Wiped cache dalvik
    Flashed zip
Was asked to select recovery reboot option
Went to EVO screen with light coming out top
    Rebooted into recovery

I then rebooted again into normal phone and all was well

    Thanks

    TecMan

whatever you do DO NOT PULL THE BATTERY OUT while it is installing. some radios can take a long time to install so 1. be patient and 2. make sure that you have plenty of battery before you do this.

Sorry if I'm hijacking the thread but should one install the Radio before a custom Rom or after a custom Rom?

i did it after a custom rom....you can update your Profile and PRL on a sense rom to if you want...just dont mess with firmware and absolutely DO NOT accept any OTA software updates!!

In fact i actually went in my settings/system updates/HTC software update....and unchecked the box for a scheduled check....this way its not gonna check for an update

Radios are completely separate from rom/kernel flashes so it does not matter whether or not you do them first. Just make sure you have 50% battery or more and DO NOT pull the battery during the flashing process. You WILL brick your phone that way. Let it runs through and wait for it to tell you to reboot.

The radios work for both Sense and AOSP. Most AOSP roms do not have the option to update PRL and PRI so you need to flash those in recovery or restore to a sense rom and update.

I understand the inportance of backing up wimax with nandroid but also i was wondering how to restore the wimax from the back up.
Do you have to do a complete restore or can u just restore the wimax keys (wimax keys are the radios correct)
Also if you restore for some other reason besides radio problems and the nondroid u use has wimax backed up will it downgrade the radio version back to when u did the nandroid. If so I guess you should make a new nandroid with wimax checked to save the new radios.

The only radios that nandroids backup are the wimax keys. It is not a radio per say, but the key that the network uses to know which account is using it. Radios themselves are in a different partition than the rom and user data is. They do not change unless you flash something specifically to change them normally. There are roms(Sprint Lover's) that include radio updates, but most have to be flashed in hboot but not all as there are some that have been set up in flashable zips for recovery.

i would bookmark this guide in case you loose your keys some how. [HowTo] restore RSA key using Terminal Emulator - xda-developers

as long as you have your wimax keys safe some places then you are good to go if you loose them.

Ok so if something did go wrong with the radio flash it has no effect on wimax so u could just redownload if say u had a bad file and reflash radio again. Wimax is needed for identifing your device on the carriers network.
So im assuming that its realy hard to mess up wimax but if you do you just restore last nandroid with wimax saved to correct the problem. The only way to perm loose wimax is to not have a back up to restore because the wimax keys are phone specific

If something goes wrong in a radio flash, you could well brick your phone. There are flashable wimax updates as well as NV, PRL and PRI updates. If you were to lose your keys while flashing a radio or flashing a rom(very uncommon), you could restore a nandroid that contains them to get them back. The link that Ocn provided has more info for that. I have never had to restore my keys as yet but I do not have 4g service in my area either.
