External Speaker Static

Droid Incredible 4G, listening to a podcast this morning and all of a sudden external speaker became very staticy. I can hear calls fine from that speaker but ringers, notification sounds, ALARM CLOCK, and media are all a quiet static noise. Any ideas on why this happened?
