I'd like to tether my ipod to my HTC hero..I found some instructions, however the program wouldn't work...I'm guessing its because I have a completely updated hero? Can anyone offer some instructions on how to easily root even though I've got the latest htc updates?

Nice to see you are still around, andygu3. Anyway, +1 on what he said with Z4Root. ;)

Just sideload that to your Sprint HTC Hero. Enable "Install from non-market sources" and "USB debugging" and then use a file explorer like EStrongs File Explorer to install the .apk. Then you are ready to root by running the Z4Root app. It is easy as pie. :)

:D :D :D :D You guys are Slackers....at least ask what Build he is on.
If its older...I MUCH prefer Universal Androot.

+11111 on Universal Androot, great app, fast and reliable and is what I also used and highly recommend as MHC mentioned, but depends on what build your on, if you are on V1.5 then UA is the way to go ;)
