Help Facebook Contact Pictures?

I thought I saw that 2.1 should have this built in? But everything I read suggests an app in the marketplace called Facebook Sync. This app is not bad, but after the initial setup, I can't get it to work. Just sits there saying, "Redirecting" forever.

Does 2.1 have something built in to sync facebook pics with contacts?

If you dig around in your phone, you'll see a section called "Accounts and Sync" where it has services that you can sync to. I currently have Twitter, and Facebook is an option, however when I try to launch it, it never opens. I'm not sure if that is because there is a different app I need (I have the official FB app currently) or if this was disabled by Samsung/Sprint...just FYI.

I just tried out SyncMyPix and it does what I think we are looking for. Doesn't add contacts from my FB phonebook but that's fine because if they aren't in my phone already I obviously don't call them.

The only thing it did funny was make Marc the photo for my cousin Marcy in my phone but it did remind me that I hadn't added her yet so not all bad lol

Ok, this is run from a PC and syncs your FB people to your Gmail people...

My Brain Hurts: Synchronizing Google and Facebook Contacts

Here's the link to the zip application - http://koushikdutta.blurryfox.com/GoogleFacebookSync/GoogleFacebookSync.zip

Now, the drawbacks: You must have the same name in your GMail contacts as their FaceBook name or it will not find them. You also need to sync this from your PC when you want it updated (no phone only sync yet...)

Other than that, it works great!

Downloaded SyncMyPix, and it works magnificently. Much better than Facebook Sync.

Thanks, all.

I tried out SyncMyPix, and it seems nice... but the problem is that it doesn't actually edit the Google contact... it just adds a picture in the phone. So if you try to view on your PC (or another phone which you might sync to Google in the future) you don't get the picture.

Check your sync settings for google. Mine have the pictures when I log in on the PC.

This sounds silly but is there a way to sync my own FB pic through SyncMyPix? On my phone under "people" it says "me, my contact card" but there is no picture showing.

Thanks

Just set your google picture manually... it's only one. :p It will take less time than writing this post. The "batch operation" is more useful when handling 100's of contacts at once.
