First off, brand new member here, so hello all, looking forward to learning more about this phone.
Alright, so the issue isn't the facebook app, but the mobile/touch facebook site while accessed using the browser. If I try going straight to the touch site and sign in, after I type in my username and password, it shows it loading, screen flashes and takes me right back to the login with an empty password box. I have never been able to log onto that.
Next, while on the mobile facebook site through the browser, I am unable to set statuses, comment, or like anything. If I click "like" on someones status it says it registers it, then less than a second later says I never liked it, like it can't click the link. I have realized if I go to the "full site" log in, then go to the mobile site there is no issues with the mobile at all, but after I end the browser in the task manager and log back onto the mobile site the same issue arises. I have tried a hard reset, tried clearing cookies, cache, history, etc. and even tried restoring the browser to defaults....I am stumped...

does the same thing to me. I think it's an issue with the Facebook mobile site through Android because it always worked with my iPhone. The mobile site is no better than the app though, so I either use the app or the regular site.

Facebook has not yet decided to play happy with Android. Skyfire, Opera or Dolphin browsers will improve the functionality somewhat, but yeah, FB isn't a great site with Android. Probably not an accident, given the budding rivalry between the two companies.

This is my 4th Android phone. None of the previous 3 ever had problems with Facebook, but this one does. I have tried browsers other than the stock browser, and they all have the same problem. Some of these problems can be relieved by following Facebook's instructions in their FAQs (such as clearing cache and cookies), but this is usually just a temporary fix. Almost every app I have the wants to connect to Facebook that isn't a browser (such as a news app to share a link) never work.

I agree Facebook isn't 100% Android friendly yet; however, every other Android phone I have used never had any of these Facebook related issues. I actually would have to argue it is a phone problem. This is the only Android phone I have encountered this issue on.

While I will admit to not being much of a power facebook user, I have found that I have issues with the stock facebook interface. The Facebook widget included in Launcher Pro Plus works just fine, however. I would agree its an issue with Samsung's UI, but its not anything that can't be worked around.

Yes, there are some work arounds, but when I called US Cellular just to see if they knew of/could fix the problem, it was suggested, in the end, I swap for a new phone.

Interestingly enough, I also had signal issues, which some others have had. Their solution was the same, stating some phones have some glitches out of box.

When you are a wireless company that has literally hundreds of phone models in operation at any given time, you can't afford to have all of your level 1 support people trained up as experts on every single phone.

Its cheaper for them to say "swap it" and give you another one. They can take back your old one, factory reset it, and sell it later as a refurb. (Or give it to one of us under the Belief Project...)

Well I did replace it (with a new one at the store). It didn't solve this issue in anyway. They seem to be completely clueless on how to address the issue. The only other thing I could think of doing was trying to get support at Facebook, which is proven even more difficult then getting good support from US Cellular.

I can only hope the upcoming update (who actually knows when they will release it) for the phone fixes this issue.

I am one of a somewhat rapidly growing group, that considers Facebook a step backwards and a huge waste of time.

Tried it for awhile, became bored once the learning slowed to a crawl & closed that chapter of online life.

It'd be nice to find something more useful fresh & imaginative.

I'm running the "leaked" version of the update, and I don't notice any difference in FB functionality. But then again, I'm not a power user of it anyway, so what I get out of it works just fine.

Well I continued my research and such, and discovered a major factor seems to be US Cellular's network. I have experienced problems with other apps and sites, but only on 3G. When using wifi, none if the issues occur. I have look on net and spoken with other US Cellular customers and there seems to be something glitch at times with the actual data coverage.

My phone, the new one and first one, has had trouble even finding the data signal when standing in view of a tower. I have even talked to their tech support over the issue. They have little to offer, other than replacing the phone. I'm not interested in that, because I'm almost 100% sure that it's their issue. Honestly, the chances of me having two brand new identical phones that both have the exact same glitch is unlikely unless it is a US Cellular problem in general.

I have rooted and used leaked ROMS and the like before, but that was usually to gain functions. This phone isn't really locked much by US Cellular (one if the reason I wanted it). I guess my hope at a fix is in vain. Of course, if it is really a US Cellular problem in general (which seems to be the best working theory) no update to the phone will help.

I think its more of a Samsung, Google, or FB issue than it is USCC. USCC did not do much tweaking, if any, of the stock Samsung UI. They just added their my contacts backup/city ID/my navigator bloatware stuff and that was pretty much the extent.

Given the fact that Samsung has had issues with a LOT of developers (Yahoo, FB, among others) I don't think USCC is a likely candidate.
