type su and press enter to get root.
Thanks for that, I now have a quiet camera.
I have a few Q's I hope this is the right place to ask.
I'm trying to root my phone mostly to remove some bloatware and tweak stuff, and working my way through the many options.
One question is about recovery and adb shell. When I run adb shell with the phone running, I can see all files and run some commands, but /system is read-only so I can't change any fun stuff. But when I boot into recovery, when I run adb shell I get "device offline" error.
What am I doing wrong? How get the phone to allow adb to connect when in recovery mode? (as I understand it recovery mode being with the recovery menu options like "wipe data" "reboot system now" etc).
And once I get /system mounted r/w is it possible to just copy in a su and sudo binaries? Where would I get those?
Are you already rooted or not yet? What device are we talking about?
Desire GSM. Not yet rooted. It's had one OTA update a few months ago. I tried and failed to use unrevoked. It failed at the end suggesting that perhaps the system was too new.
Success with 3.21! Now I can delete all those unused apps!
yes, thats all in our rooting guide.
got mine working. Thanks!
thanks Dan - radio now flashed
Notice any improvement dan?
bit too early to tell - but will keep a close eye on it
Cheers pal, which radio did you flash?
doesnt look promising so far - but am on a different rom too - plus have been screen on a bit - also been trying out juice defender - for toggling 3g - but it disables my volume key wake :/
radio was 22.214.171.124
...actually i think it is better - the radio signal showing in battery use has been full green all night and is normally pretty poor - pls after 11hrs of moderate or so use i still have 50% left i would have defo been charging before now
Cheers, which rom you on now?
mokee 0.4 sort of miui like. bit heavy on internal...but still in production :-D
my go to rom is mw ox 4.1.3
I'm having trouble installing a keyboard manually.
Is this correct:
adb install c:\HTC_IME_themed_by_gIMpSTa.apk /system/app
it is saying can't find '/system/app'
Just install it as a normal app.
Anyway if you want to use adb... use adb push
