Fascinate touchscreen?

Hello Everyone,

New to this forum so please forgive me if I'm asking a question already touched upon.

I wanted to upgrade my phone to either the Droid X or the Fascinate so I went to a few Verizon stores over the weekend to test the phones out.

I really liked the size and feel of the Fascinate over the bulkiness of the X, but I noticed in many of the floor models that the touchscreen wasn't very accurate when trying out the texting feature.

I realize that floor samples are abused and therefore not indicative of the actual phone. So I wanted to ask people who actually own and use the phone if anyone has noticed any issues regarding the touchscreen.

I currently own a Samsung touchscreen and it has become a bit fussy. It has been two years so I know its to be expected, but want to avoid any future problems.

Thanks

i have found both the x and fascinat to be very good to type on. Both have swype (which some love, some don't) but typing on either is great.

my fascinate is pretty accurate- the only time when I have issues is if my fingers are really frozen cold- and I think that is because it is a heat sensitive screen. that said, if you have really tiny things you are tying to hit that are close to one another, then yes, you might want to zoom in a bit before clicking. but on basic application, typing( swype or otherwise) and most normal stuff, the screen is perfect for me. good thing, too, since there is no keyboard on this one, lol. but honestly? I came from a phone with a real keyboard- I though I would hate virtual only- now I would not go back. this is the best phone I have ever had.

The screen accuracy seems perfect for me. I've had it since the first weekend it was out and never once so far has it being inaccurate even crossed my mind.

About the same as the x and the incredible. All 3 are just as accurate, for the exception of the x having the best keyboard out of the 3.

I'd say the Fascinate's accuracy is about the same as the Droid X in daily use, better than the Incredible in daily use. Better than both in sheer accuracy in sliding/scrolling.

Worse than the iPhone 3/3gs/4 in responsiveness, but since the touchscreen hardware of the Fascinate is on-par or better than an iPhone, I think this may be software related.

I had the Droid X and the Fascinate is just as accurate as the X. I feel the typing on the Fascinate is better than the X.

i feel like i was better on swype on my x, but better on regular keyboard the fascinate in landscape and it fits better in my hands that way.

still it d be cool to see a scientific comparison between all the top tier devices

Its the old saying about lies, damn lies and statistics.
One review will say one thing another will say the opposite.
Stats wont really prove anything either. According to stats the iphone has the worlds best display or whatever they call it.
People like what they like, let the stats be damned

I moved up to the Fascinate from a Samsung Omnia, and I find the difference amazing. The Omnia had a pressure sensitive keyboard vs the Fascinate's capacitive, and my typing accuracy has increased by leaps and bounds. I also find the capacitive far easier to use, especially for drag and drop or long-press operations. The one downer is my old stylus pens won't work, but with the larger screen, I don't really need them.

I really like the swype typing feature on the fascinate but it took time for me to learn how to use it etc. But to each his own personal choice.

Great screen. Some have complained about it being "blue" which I thought was when the phone is on. Under light, it is a deep navy blue rather than black when the screen is off which I think is really cool. IMO a pretty useless thing to complain about and had I not read it here I would have never noticed. Really, who cares hat the screen looks like in sleep mode?
It is stunning even in bright sun and is as responsive as the gold standard iphone which is superb.
