I'm not sure how tenuous the inclusions to this thread should get, but notoriety is probably close enough...

Suspected Gambino mob boss Francesco 'Frank' Cali was shot to death outside his home in New York. He was 53.

Of course the fly in the ointment is that Mr. Cali's body will undergo an autopsy, which is kind of ironic given that everyone knows how he died. However, it is (1) most assuredly *not* a natural death and (2) for legal reasons they must establish an actual cause (for example did a bullet shatter his larynx so he choked to death before he could bleed out?). And although government does like to have answers, in such cases it is not just morbid (excuse the pun) curiosity. Rather, the actual cause of death can be a factor in prosecuting someone for the crime (assuming a suspect is arrested, charged and tried before the Gambino family takes care of it themselves) and in some instances insurance might come into play. For example if it turns out the bullet wounds simply stressed him out so much that his heart stopped from the shock (and not from loss of blood), then the family might be able to argue that an accidental death benefit might be payable from an applicable life insurance policy.

    Are you still awake? ;)
