I'm surprised there isn't already a thread here for this. What book reader do people like best? I tried a bunch of them and settled on FBReader because it's easy to open books by folder rather than using a library. Also, the display is very clear and you can customize the reader in many ways.
I'm a dork, I'm old fashioned. I like paper books. My boyfriend uses FBReader though, He prefers it to WordPlayer. Those are the only two he's used (Since they were both free LOL). FBR has the most formats covered I believe..^^.
Nothing wrong with being a dork. I love the convenience of carrying my entire library with me and being able to read wherever I am.
I'm usually too busy to read a book or anything else. LOL Though I do bring a book with me at all times, I'm a girl. I've got a gynormongoid purse (Just shy of being able to fit my toilet).
Has anyone else here tried Aldiko? By far the best book reader I have ever used. Doesn't hurt to give it a try.
yes, theres a free version and its very well featured for a free version, and its not a trial. I love its bookshelf iOS-like design. P.S. I thought u were a man lol
I guess it's me, I don't like having to muck about with a bookcase; I like just going to the folder and opening the file I want to read.
I use Nook because I can get all of the Lost Tribe of the Sith for free. I really hope they consider expanding their Star Wars collection as there were a few I was looking to buy but they didn't have them.
I started with Aldiko and you may think this is silly, but I didn't like it because you can't change the line spacing. Also, you *have* to use the library and you have to import your books into it. That's just a pain in the neck to me. Readers like FBReader, Cool Reader and Moon Reader let you just go into your folders and open a book. That seems a whole lot easier to me.
DL'ing now. I tried reading some PDF's with Documents To Go, and it was a pain. Thanks for the headsup. Edit: Got it. Like it. Just one question. How do I increase the size of the page or text? Maybe I am missing this option in the menu/settings somewhere. I do like that you can flip pages with the Volume control on the side of the phone.
There is actually a whole forum for literature in the lounge area. All the guys over there seem to like aldiko the best, but it seems to take up to much precious internal memory for the ascend. I haven't gotten into the whole books on phone thing yet, I'm waiting until I get around to buying a bigger sd card.
I'm not sure how much memory FBReader uses but, so far, it's been the one that works best for me. Everyone's different and looks for different things in a book reader so it's good there are many to choose from.
His phone is constantly running out of memory all the time anyways. This just made it so much worse. Not to mention the first 2 times he opened it, He got force closings. X.x
I use the Amazon Kindle app. It syncs with the books you bought on your Amazon account. It'll also sync which page your on so you can start reading on your computer, go to your Kindle, and then read on your phone and it will all be right there.
I would use the Kindle app if I bought any Kindle books. I will typically d/l a book in .txt or .html format and convert it.
Why in the world did you think I was a man? LMAO. I've heard that before though! It's because of the way I type and think. I was raised with a bunch of guys. Guess I'm not really the "Girlie" type. XD
well im glad it wasnt me who said it cuz i was definantly thinking it lol but hey im glad to be wrong women who can talk nerdy are just plain sexy hence why im with my fiance she can speak nerdy to me all day
Lol I guess we dont expect women to be nerdy. Actually, I even had doubts on Jazziette too. Anyways, its nice to have another woman in the forums.
