Ok so right now I have the Droid 1 and it keeps messing up. My friend who works at verizon said he might be able to send me out a D2. I immediately told him yes! So if I get the D2 how much different is it than my D1? I know it has a 1ghz processor and thats all about the change, but is there anything else that I am missing?

    Thanks

It's no longer going to be stock android for you.

The keyboard is much improved, camera is the same, there is no chin which is nice, there are arrow keys instead of a d-pad.

I know I am really upset about it not being stock android. I have seen a few roms tho which take it back to stock. So if its still rootable I will root. I heard in the past the Droid 2 was unrootable since the update

Rooting hasn't changed since the 2.2 or 2.3 update. It's even got simpler. There are Vanilla ROMs that are blurless and run smoother and quicker than the stock Droid 2.

Battery is better because of the smaller faster cpu. I did read a rumor the global model has a slightly better camera.

Yes it has for most people. When they first released it I flashed the SBF because I wasn't able to get mine to update. Most people can find the update now however.

I didn't think gingerbread was part of the update. I don't think we would be the first ones to run it either.

It was a system update to system version 2.3, NOT android version 2.3 aka gingerbread.

Yes, thank you for reiterating this. You'd be surprised how many people think the Droid 2 is running Gingerbread.
