File Transfer from Moto G to Mac

Hi - I have a Moto G Play mobile running Android 6.0.1. I am trying to connect this to MAc for file transfer using the file transfer app.

The system cannot find device - even after the mobile screen is unlocked.

What could be the problem?

Yes, I have tried with a new USB cord. I dont have windows to check. I used to get the files transferred from my old REDMI phone - but it is not happening with Moto G.

I presume you've been using this...

From experience it seems to be rather particular about what phones it wants to work with. Like it works perfectly with my Oppo R9 with 6.0.1, but absolutely refused to play ball with a Samsung Galaxy Note7 also with 6.0.1, I had for a short time last year.

Android File Transfer has never been updated since it came out, it's still 1.0
. It seems to me that Google doesn't seem to be particularly interested in Macs, and Apple wants you to be using iOS devices with their Macs of course.

I do use Macs myself, but usually connect my Android devices via WiFi, and use Airdroid mostly, which only requires a browser on the computer.
