What is the word on this? I'm thinking I'll take my phone in for some servicing on a warranty issue. Has rooting voided my warranty, or not?

    100% YES.
but software root, can be reversed. and once un-rooted, the warranty is good again and no one the wiser.

Yes it does. However, there is a process to remove the root and go back to stock if you need to do a warrant claim.
