Hi, I just got a new evo 4g about 3 days ago I have read over rooting for dummies and have tried to do the rooting proccess using the reflash package. My problem seems to be everytime I try and run the reflasher I get the message that my firmware is too new and can't be rooted. I have read the faq and the other thread about firmware being too new and have tried doing what was suggested. So I have ran the HTC sync program and uninstalled it leaving the drivers intact. I have tried to factory reset the device about 10+ times using both disk and charger usb settings. When I go into hboot it says...

    HBOOT-2.16.0001
    MICROP-041f
    TOUCH PANEL-ATMEL224-16ab

So I guess the real question is my firmware too new? I thought I might be this gingerbread os that I hear about on the fourms so I tried to run that installer and it wouldnt ever locate my phone...Thanks for any help

you need to use the revolutionary method. read this: http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all...ooting-dummies-guide-gingerbread-edition.html
no need to downgrade. you cant do it anyways unless you are rooted.

did you follow the steps in the guide?

you need to have anti-virus turned off. make sure usb debugging is on and you have the phone set to charge. do you have programs like htc sync, doubletwist, or dropbox on your computer? if so uninstall them.
