I look at my phone info today and it states phone firmware is 1.6, but I see people stating they have upgraded to 0.26, what do this mean, throught there was 1.5,1.6,2.1,2.2

    Is there different ones?

We are all on 1.6 and awaiting the day 2.1 is released. The numbers you are reading are called build numbers. As they solve user problems found while using the phone certain hardware bugs arise, get reported and with luck heard by SE. They will then engineer a new firmware build and the name will be represented in this fashion.

Globally they will release these with different speeds nameings and content with in the firmware.
Hope this answers your question and that I have not muddy the waters more.
