Well that's what I tried to do before, which resulted in the call being ended. I didn't know that buried in the full Eris manual was the instruction to hit the trackball instead. This update change makes it more intuitive, at least to me.

Interesting, since I don't have a problem with any of that. This addresses nothing as far as I'm concerned.

this is really going to piss me off if this is the so call patch thats suppose to hold us over until the 2.0 upgrade. There is NO EXCUSE not to address the NUMBER 1 complaint, THE BATTERY ISSUE ,which HTC and verizon knows about. THATS F%@!#N BULLS%$T!!!!!!

Wait for the update they don't always list every fix.

Will the update automatically download or do we have to check the update option in the setting menu?

    I know I'm ranting,felt good:)

Anyhoo, you would think HTC or verizon would post an alert about the update and a list of fixes on there website.

I guess this will have to do until 2.0 is released for the Eris.

If that is all the update really includes, then that is pathetic. I'm not sure I want to wait another month to get battery life improved. It seems they've made a lot of improvements to the Moto Droid with the recent update including battery life. Maybe I need to take advantage of that 30 day return policy on the Eris.

edit: On second thought, there's no way I'm getting a Moto Droid, lol. Do a search for "Motorola Droid dust under screen." I noticed this on my Droid before I returned it and apparently it's a huge issue. No thanks!

Confirmed. Just got the update. You need at least 40% battery life for it to run. Took about 10 mins to download and install. A popup screen just came out of nowhere asking to install it so I did.

Anyway, its still Android 1.5. The phone does seem a tiny bit faster now although that maybe because of the reboots it went through. Will continue to test...

It's on Verizon's website now if you click under support then select the eris and I think its under updates....sorry just trying to pull it from memory. It gives the same list of fixes as the above link.

I don't understand what about the battery there is to fix. The battery life is what it is, I get a full days use out of mine as long as I'm not using multimedia type apps nonstop.

PS Part of the reason for the small update opposed to the Droids big update is our phone doesn't have nearly as many issues.

The fails in comparison to the original update list that was leaked soon after the 11/6 launch. Where are the Exchange updates that were proposed?

    This really sucks.

remember when we were reading the update papers posted a month ago. many of the items were set for the 1/22 date, not 12/11

Was the one that updated connected via WiFi or 3G?
    Onion, same question to you.

I'm just wondering if it makes a difference which way we're connected.

    Exactly.

Here's my take on battery life:

    If your phone:
    1) Sleeps properly
    2) Has been fully discharged 3x
    3) Lasts one full working day with heavy use.

    Your battery is fine.

    If not, return the phone.

I returned my phone for another Eris yesterday and I have to say that the battery life (they kept my old battery) is a MONSTER. The phone is much faster as well.

I think some of the first phones may have been lemons.

Also, as noted, they don't always list all the issues. Plus, they may know of issues but still be working on it. As I stated in other threads, the phone has been out less than 45 days. We're ALREADY getting a patch, and another next month. How can you expect more?

    Results after the update...

Eris is just as laggy as before the update. No improvement in speed.

i want to believe you but your track record on this forum....
    anyways!
the update is supposed to fix thing that inadvertently effect the battery.
like the 1x getting stuck issue. that effects the battery since the phone has to work harder to get 3g.
so hopefully all of these fixes at MINIMUM gives us 20-30% increase in battery life. thats all i need :)
other than that, since its not to 1.6 or 2.0 i dont really care for this particular update.
but....it is nice to get the attention! :)
    woooohoooo!!!
also, if you go to the home screen, tap menu, then go to settings, then go to about phone at the bottom, then go to system updates...thats another way of checking :)
    still waiting on mine...

I've ordered my Eris, should be here today.

Just my two cents coming from ATT and my trusty old Samsung Eternity. Good phone, but it had it's issues.

Ya'll should feel fortunate that you have a phone and a carrier willing to push an update to fix known issues. Especially OTA. One thing I didn't like about the iPhone was you *had to* use itunes with it for updates ( or contacts, etc ). Lame.
