My Moto G (16gb) just arrived and I am very impressed, my old phone (Samsung Galaxy Ace) is a dinosaur by comparison. Moto Migrate was faultless and saved a lot of time. Two day battery life looks achievable at least for my usage. Everything seems just to work smoothly and without hassle. To my mind a truly great phone for the money. I am glad I didn't go for the Nexus 5 as the difference in facilities is for me is just not justified by the big extra cost - OS update to KK due after Xmas will make it even more of a no brainer. Well done Motorola

I just received my Moto G around 3pm. I wasn't at home but the wife called and told me. At this moment I have it charging using my old faithful of a phone, the Strat charger, I have turned it on but not quite ready to switch to Tmobile.

The clear plastic on the screen has Motorola name & logo on it, so I guess I need to figure out how to remove it and use it with wifi. I'll probably put tmo sim card in and activate it tomorrow.

How the heck do you remove the plastic flim on the screen???

You're having a hard time removing the plastic film? Wow, they've always come off really easily for me.

I had to put some tape on the end and was able to pull it off. I couldn't find a corner piece to grab, I didn't want to scratch the screen trying to peel it off.

This phone is great coming from the older Stratosphere. I was able to get GV & Talkatone setup and make/receive phone calls over wifi. I need to wait a few more days before I port my number from Vzw to Tmobile. Moto Migrate did a pretty good job transferring my data over using wifi. One thing I did noticed was it installed alot of apps I really didn't want at this time, including a few Verizon apps. I just uninstalled those.

Lemme ask this, you bought the US version, right? Does it put the carrier up in the notifications bar, on the left side? I've been browsing over on XDA where most of the people there, so far, have the global version and they all have the carrier up in the notification bar.

Correct, I have the US version. Right now I do not have a carrier, I'm using Wifi only. If you look at the Screenshots thread, you will noticed the Sim Card is showing on the right side of the notification bar, with the red circle. I'm going to use Tmobile and I have the Sim card but haven't installed it yet.

Just got mine today, getting used to Jellybean coming from an Android 2.2 device. Still not signed up for service yet but works decent over wifi so far. Screen protectors on the way. Time to see if I can root this thing

Glad you got it. Which screen protectors did you order? I'll get some type of case for mine.

Anyone tried unlocking the bootloader and rooting the phone yet?

From playing around with both phones, so far this basically looks like a Nexus 5 Mini, which is just what I wanted (I hate 5 inch phone, even this 4.5 incher is a bit much). Everything looks pretty darn stock except for 2 Moto apps, and that's it.

I don't really no much about rooting & roms stuff, but I thought the phone was already unlocked. Is unlocking the bootloader a different type of unlocking?

Did you use the Motorola Migrate app to transfer your apps & data to the G? I did and it went pretty good but I wanted to be able to pick & choose which apps to install and it also installed around 4 Verizon apps, for some reason.

    Got mine last night. :)
It's funny going back an forth with my G2 though. Buttons on the back, buttons on the side, knock-on or not....
Will say, this thing is quite smooth and impressive for the price! My weekend is coming up so I'll put it through its paces soon enough.

T-Mobile with the $30 plan, works perfect for me. :) What about you?

I haven't yet. I will have to wait until after my tax refund to get the phone. I do plan on putting it on MetroPCS though.

Hmmm, what time did you get the upgrade? Right now I only use wifi at home and my phone was online until 6pm CST. I'm still showing 4.3 but after midnight, I'm signing up with Tmobile so I will have data active.

    Thnx.

Wish I could do that plan, but 100 minutes isn't enough for me. I regularly use close to 300 a month

I'll likely be signing up with the $45 Straight Talk plan. I wan to play with the device a bit more to make sure I like it, then unlock the bootloader and upgrade to 4.4 before getting the plan.

Still waiting for the matte screen protector, I got the clear one and put it on and it's afingerprint magnet, not very impressed.

I tried a standby battery test where I left the phone alone for 4 days and the battery usage was very good, so that test passed well.
