After having the phone shut off on me, scroll on its own, lockup and need a battery pull I decided to get a refurbished phone.

Anyone care to share their advice on how they have made differences in thier phones setup ect that have worked, app changes

One word...Root. Rooting brought me from a laggy, silent call bugging Eris that I couldn't wait to get rid of to a fast, clean and relatively bug free phone that I can say I'm proud to own.

Ok Im going to try rooting the phone. Since this is a new phone I assume I just need to go ahead and activate it... right?

    1. Do i do the updates to the phone if it needs any?
    2. At what point do I start the process of rooting...
    3. Choosing a ROM? How to go about choosing one
    4. I assume if I dont care for rooting the phone I can undo the root and return the phone to its original sub par self

    1. As lomg as you have 2.1 on the refurb you should not have to update.
    2. As soon as you can get to the market download "one click Eris root" app.
    3. The ROM is mostly user choice. I am a fan if the 2.2 ROMs myself. I have tried Kaos, TAZZ Cynogen, and NonSenesable (sic). As of now I am leaning toward the nonsenesable, but the Kaos and Tazz Cyanogen use ADB launcher and Nonsensable uses Launcher Pro. With Over/Under Clocking you can achieve amazing battery life for a smart phone. I highly recommened rooting.
    4. Yes, it is easily done.
