Mac I believe automatically unzips downloads. You will need to rezip it then transfer it to your sdcard. If you are on Wifi, it might be easier to download it direct to your phone if you are unfamiliar with archiving files

did your mac automatically unzip it? I hear that is a common occurrence.

Edit: alright, Xtreme pulled an Ocn on me. :)

good luck, I think that is it, but wiser heads than I will prob appear shortly. :)

Welcome to the forums, by the way.

Also, have you checked out the rooting for dummies stickie, especially Life after root?
    http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all...ooting-dummies-guide-gingerbread-edition.html

It will tell you about changing recoveries to amon ra, a reliable recovery, and wiping well before flashing and flashing roms and kernels.

I'd give the stock kernel a try with that rom, works great on my phone.

edit: yep, actually appeared BEFORE I did...

Tiamat is an AOSP Kernel. You need a sense Kernel

I would download and flash Lithids Aggressive Freedom Universal kernel ( ROM & Kernel download page)

Your options for kernels on MikG are:

    1) Freedom (universal, not the synergy godmode or synergy nightly version)
    - comes in aggressive, more, less and stock voltages
    2) Chop Suey
    3) Golden Monkey (severely outdated IMHO)
    4) Anthrax (pulled from XDA)
    5) Stock
