fm radio on atrix

was sort of disappointed it did not come with a standard fm tuner.
does anyone know & where to get one just to get your local stations not eating your data plan up like tunein app? someone needs to design a basic app if it's possible

From what I understand the Broadcom chip has FM capabilities, but it's TRANSMIT, not RECEIVE. So, it would be to play your MP3 files through your car radio from your phone, not listen to local FM radio stations.

Regardless, as far as everything I can find, it's disabled in the chip.

whoops.....your right, well here's hoping some "techy guru" can solve and put it on the market, just a plain fm tuner nothing fancy. should be a free app but i would still make a donation.

so is there any programmers that are up for this type of challange? the stock fm radio app in the lg eve or samsung galaxy s vibrant would be a basic template to use it's the techy stuff to tie into the chip is the challenge??...

Nothing programmers can do. IF you read the links, you would see, the chip has FM,. but it's DISABLED.
So, there is nothing for a programmer to access.
I don't even think Motorola could just "Flip it on" with a firmware update unless it's a full chip flash that would have to be done on a technician.

Atrix has fm transmitter, not a receiver. Therefore, FM radio does not exist in Atrix 4G, sadly.

Actually, if you read the link to XDA, it has BOTH FM receiver, and transmitters on the chipset.
However, Motorola DISABLED both functions at the chip.
