Folders showing empty when connected to PC

When I plug S20 via USB cable to my Laptop.
Phone is discovered and shown s icon in 'myComputer'
However when I double click on it the folder is empty.
It should show Phone & card folder icons.

I have checked and USB is selected for file transfer.

S20 is running v11
PC running W10

Yes.. aware that stops folders showing.
I installed Sansung Dex to check ports & cables working.
Now remo Ed Dex .....

Phone screen needs to be on and unlocked, and you also need to give permission on the popup message that appears, asking for permission to access the device's files

As confirmed yesterday … phone is on, screen unlocked … and confirmed as it appears in MyComputer.
I have no on screen messages so cannot ‘accept’ them
