I figure it's gotta be possible somehow with root, maybe a special kernel or something?

Why? Do you have some apps that want to work on wifi only and need to be able to access 3g? Which ones?

I may end up going "DOH!" at myself after getting the answer but, what are some of them? (I mean besides stuff like wifinder and wifi analyzer)

P.S. There is wifi tether but that wouldn't make any sense either.

There are quite a few songs that the official GrooveShark app will not allow you to play unless on WiFi.

Skype will only work on 3g, I'd like to use it on wifi.

I understand that it was the opposite, but the same principle would apply would it not?
