I've noticed a bug with the Droid X, at least on my phone. If I set a custom notification or ringtone using a file from the SD card directly, sometimes when the phone is restarted or whenever I plug the phone into the PC (which mounts the SD card) and unplug it, the Droid X will no longer play the tone off the SD card anymore (notice I said even after I unplug the phone from the PC, meaning the phone has access to the SD card again...). If it's a custom ring tone and you have music on your SD card, it will play a random song from your SD card instead. Otherwise, it may vibrate with no audio.

The only solution I've found for this is to root your Droid X, mount your system folder as rw, copy your ring tone and notification audio to the appropriate system media folders, set your system folder back to RO, reboot the Droid X, and reset the audio using the file in the system folder.

I just wanted to post this in case anyone else ran into this bug and wanted to know how to fix it.
