There's a check box under Settings in the Market app that gives Google permission to push ads to you. Might be worth unchecking.

WOW! Just goes to show you can learn something new every day. I have been using Android phones since Oct '09, and never knew this setting was there! Thanks! :D

Well thats good to know. Turned that off in a hurry.....lol. Now if we can just get more apps on the market ad free. I know, get the paid version and it will be ad free. But sometimes the paid version isn't worth it.

I understand these davs do this to make some kind of money off their work so I don't fault them for it. But at the same time ad based apps are getting a little extreme for my taste.

I think I pay plenty enough each month to support three droids with unlimited everything that I shouldn't have to deal with someone trying to sell me stuff I don't want. Thanks, Quickaudi.... good catch!

Interesting...first time I went into settings, the choice wasn't there. So I closed it out to report that on here and opened it again. Voila! It was there. Thanks for the heads up!

i am pretty sure all this does is it doesn't send you adds "for you"
like it doesn't recognise what you search for and put up ads that are similar to what you are searching for. could be wrong, but i checked it off and still get adds.

and if you dont like adds, you can always buy the app (usually they have an add free paid version) dont complain about adds. the devs need to make money somehow.

The setting does not disable ads, it just lets them send ads that are more tailored to your interests.

    Is new.

Anyway, it hasn't bothered me yet, and until it does I'll leave the little clicky option clicked. I support Google, and if them sending me ads keeps them from charging me more, I'm all for that.

Yes, I watch the commercials on DVR'd shows.

Likely came in a market update. Thought it was a little too good to be true that you simply click a check box and ads are gone. That is Google's business model. I'll turn it back on so at least I MAY see something useful near me.

I left it checked also, since I'm forced to see some ads it may as well be something that might interest me.

Thank you very much for this discovery! I didn't even know there was a settings under the market app - was really wondering how birds was throwing adds up even with AddFree up-to-date.

    Again thanks!

    This won't disable the ads.

Well before .595 (from .588) on birds (seasons at least) adds have been popping up, no software update on either end other than the OS. I've unchecked this and haven't seen an add yet, now I will say when it did try to push adds before on .595 it would be a black box with an ? mark but I've been playing for about 20 min add free. I was wondering how it would effect third party programs but maybe its just that random, either way no adds - yet.

Someone made another thread about it here and said it just came out about a week ago. Not that they just noticed it a week ago-- that it came out a week ago. So yeah, I'm guessing market update.
