For almost 2 weeks VZW's twitter page kept telling leakers they would get the OTA.....

Well........

@PhishChica Unfortunately leakers will not be getting the update, since they already have the same software. *ZC

something that was determined on day 1 of the OTA... about time they finally acknowledged it

and so it begins... do they already know who installed the leak... via the ping for the OTA and them logging in their systems that we already had it... and therefore, officially voided our warranties in their systems?

The Twitter rep *ZC is being a real jerk about this all of a sudden, considering that "leak v3" IS in fact approved by Verizon (otherwise all those people who received the OTA also voided their warranty).

Rest assured:

1. There's no way anyone but a high-level tech (which they seem to lack) will know whether you've got the OTA or leak v3, so I seriously doubt they'll call you out on "voiding your warranty."

2. If Verizon won't honor your warranty, sell your phone (with leak v3) on eBay for $200, and then buy a refurb from Verizon for $169, and you'll have a new warranty. Screw Verizon if they're going to screw you first.

Yeah, kinda want to take Verizon out back by the bike rack and beat them up after school. Rage, I has it.

Is there even a way to go back to 1.5? I'm running leak v2, was told I would get the OTA update because I didn't have the final product, but I'd rather get the official update before installing leak v3.

I just got off the phone with VZW tech. They are sending me out a new phone. He claims it will have the new software already on it, but we shall see.
He also told me that he can not find anyone else with the silent call issue. I call BS on that one.

I think it must be Verizon protocol to never admit an existing issue. They say the same thing no matter what you report. If you call and complain about the "Time without a signal: 50%," I bet they'll tell you it's never happened to anyone else. ;)

I didnt even bring up the 50% without signal. I told them ultra fast battery drain and silent call issue.

Yeah, I'm just using the "50%" bug as an example because EVERY SINGLE ONE of our phones has it, but I bet they'd pretend it's isolated.

Why wont Verizon just put the full official ROM (with updated HBOOT) on the PCDphones website (like the MR1 and MR2 releases) and let anyone that wishes, flash to the full official ROM?

How are VZW internal testers who clearly had v3 getting the official release?

Screw Verizon if they're going to screw you first.
How is Verizon screwing you when you installed leaked software? That is your fault and your problem, not Verizon's.

I think this is funny, actually. All these folks ran out and installed the leak software and now we see all these issues. Too bad, so sad.

The CSR that I just talked to was a nice guy. Owner of an Eris. Said that he hadn't heard of silent phone issue with the new update. Sending phone.

I doubt this and I don't think that he is lying (by choice) about it. He is told what to say and do and his calls are recorded. He'll find himself fired if he decides to deviate from the scripted troubleshooting method.

Where did they say this?

Scratch that... Twitter rep is on it, supposedly.

Sorry I sent the wrong link for a G1 upgrade. I am trying to find an Eris link now. *ZC

I might be wrong about this but doesnt the official OTA say 2.1-update 1 and the v3 leak just say 2.1?
