Root For those with EB01 theme problems.....

Ive noticed an abnormal number of issues that people are having with themes for EB01. It seems the main problem is that many people are using the original EB01 leak and that IS NOT DEODEXED.

Your rom/system must be deodexed to use themes. Examples of deodexed roms are superclean...and now there is a full version of the eb01 leak that is deodexed EB01 Stock Deodexed - xda-developers

As of now, you must have 1 of these 2 to use themes on EB01. Or either the theme won't take, or just some parts of it will, or some stuff won't stick after another reboot.

Hope this helps clear the air.

Theme Machine FTW with the knowledge.
Using superclean myself and loving the redbread [again].

BTW, nitsuj17 it seems you updated a whole bunch of DL30 themes for EB01. Was it less work/hassle than you thought? Seems like you can pump a former DL30 to EB01 in less than an hour

umm it wasnt as bad as i thought. The frameworks are virtually the same, so actually our xml edits (minus the ones in values) are all compatible...so I just ripped mine out of the dl30 versions...and the apps are almost all the same.

Still a bit time consuming....but about half as long as it could have been.

Do we need to start a private room for the two of you? lol :p

Thanks for the link nitsuj ... I'm going to try EB01 tonight. This is NOT a phone for OCD people like me lol ... I can never decide how I want it to look

Question - if theming based off of the EB01 stock deodexed, should the resulting files be okay for other builds like superclean? I mean obviously you wouldn't include files that aren't in superclean (do separate packages I suppose) but for shared files would it work? I'm hoping to start comprehensive work on a theme of my own in the near future, and I'd really prefer to use a stock ROM as a base - superclean has too many compromises for my taste.

Unless you're trying to go nuts it's more about using an imaging program to edit or replace existing files than it is about actual coding. XML edits can enhance a theme, but again the common ones are fairly simple.

Then again, I come from a coding background, so my opinions aren't very objective. I wouldn't know where to start you as I'm still learning myself, but APK Manager is a godsend. I'll let someone with more experience comment beyond that.

Here is a link to nitsuj17's very helpful "how-to" guide - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=932856

Thanks I will start off on the link. When I took the C and C++ classes it came pretty naturally to me...its funny, code seems to be written the same way my mind functions so I had fun and did well, but I decided to just finish my other degree instead and stick to health care....

Yeah with apps they will overwrite the ones in the rom if its the same app ....sometimes superclean uses aosp apps instead of Samsung apps so you could end up with 2 clocks 2 messaging etc ....I usually use superclean apps because the rom is so popular

Yeah I'd probably use aosp for most apps, but since nobody seems to use the aosp contacts app we're all kinda stuck with that one. Guess the aosp version must be really terrrible and/or the sammy one is difficult to replace.

just flashed using the provided link to xda and added aosp unlock, remove clock, etc. ... running smooth! I haven't ran voodoo before but looking forward to seeing the increase in response ... is voodoo available for eb01? I see it was removed from another post

Jt posted voodoo at xda so saps was able to link it in his kernel thread. :)

Just a comment. I was having problems using superclean with no theme. Everytime I would restore with TiBU I would lose various functionality. I don't know if TiBU was loading data that didn't mesh with the new rom or what but when i manually restored my apps I didn't have the problem anymore. Just a quick fyi.

If there are different versions of apps titanium will restore data incorrectly...really this is why you should only restore apps and app data...no system data

Thanks Nits. You answered my question about this in other forum and I have been seeing same question asked several times. Glad you started this thread.

Quick question, other than space, is there any reason you shouldn't store more than 1 rom on sd card?
