Force GPU 2D render Nexus 10

In developer options we can set the force GPU to render 2D. While I am not sure yet of battery use it does seem to speed up the boat browser and the like. Even the speed test dot net app is smoother. I've only had it on for a short time but the initial appearance is that it is freeing CPU cycles for other tasks........

I've had it enabled now for a few days and it appears to me - though the assessment is completely unscientific - that there is indeed an improvement of battery life. Can't precisely say how much, but it feels like it, certainly.

Edit: From the little that I have read on this, it would appear that my impressions are counter-intuitive. Enabling this should, apparently, degrade battery life. But that's not what my impressions appear to bear out.

Edit: Following from the previous edit, now I am finding some stuff which says turning on the option conserves battery to some extent.

It seems to conserve it just a tad.he only bqad I've noticed is occasionally in Angry birds it causes a hickup in the animation but other wise seems to be smooth. Email, the browser nettflix, face book and all general apps seem to run as smooth if not even faster so on it stays for now..............
