With all the changes happening at the moment I thought it might be nice to have a place for anyone to report any issues they have found or would like to feedback any comments on the changes.

So with this in mind I spotted an issue in the New section where the Quick Jump format is broken. This only happens in mobile view, see attached screenshot:

I'm having problems uploading full-size photos to the media area, whether to a collection or album.

This is what I see after it reaches 100%:

    Screenshot_20200210-175624.jpg

Sizing it down solves the problem [just like in the forums]--but there shouldn't be an issue based on:

    The image's specs:

@Rob will know, but if I had to hazard a guess, *you* don't have any limitations, but the forum still has a size limit.

I posted a monster picture once. Moderators and Guides jumped all over my case...
    Did some research after that.

Yep, I'll bet you're right about that.

But when/why did that change? As noted in one of my old threads here, at some point it became impossible to add large files to posts--despite having always been able to in the past.

I'd love to see the error message actually state its reason, i.e., "file too large--please resize it and try again," because right now no one knows why their upload fails.

No clue, will have to wait to see what @Rob says. If there was a change I missed when that happened.

I posted about it in March last year. But that doesn't necessarily mean it started then, only that I became aware of it.

As of tonight, 'What's New' has disappeared, and the notification bell along with the home button have moved down over the top of the other selections.

In landscape mode, the bell and Home return to their previous positions, but there is still no 'New' option available. Screenshot_2020-02-13_01-07-56.png

SO @Rob is still trying things, looking for a good balance. The "forums" takes you to new posts now.

Paging @Rob... Are you personally monitoring this thread? Just wondering.

Assuming you hear us one way or another: I hope you're going to switch threads with unread posts back to bold blue. Bold black isn't doing it--for me. :)

Also, in the media area, when trying to upload a JPEG today, I saw a new error message:

    xScreenshot_20200213-122916.jpg

Since its wording is different than when a file is too large, I'm *guessing* it's somehow related to the file being on one of my computers, not on the phone I was using. It's an odd message for a file that's definitely an image! (And a supported type.)

Yeah, might be just that I'm very used to the blue, but I'm finding the black jarring and visually inconsistent.

The more I see it, the more I dislike it.

@Rob, if you're listening, this long-time member finds myself skipping threads and/or moving on quickly from pages with lots of this jarring bold black text. I don't think that's the result you're after.

I'm personally monitoring as much as I can but things do slip through the cracks!

In terms of the Blue vs Black:
    • I already felt the Blue was a bit too much link overload. It's a forum so it should be relatively obvious that each of the titles to a thread is a text link. I felt that moving this to black would make things more readable and scannable rather than being a wall of links.
    • The "Forum" name was previously at the far right of the screen which made it impossible to scan the topics of each title. We moved the forum name below the thread title so that when you're reading through a list you know exactly what each topic is about without your eyes having to continually look left/right/left in addition to up and down.
    • Putting the forum below the title made blue on blue text and the forum name blended in... we wanted it to stand out
    • However, BOLD BLACK and Regular Black seem to be overwhelmingly black... I think we'll try out doing Regular Black for Unread links and slightly lighter gray for threads you've already read... which should be easier on the eyes.
    Thoughts?

Fair compromise. Interested to see the black Grey option.

Guess what? I disagree! :D

You're right, it's a forum, etc., but we get new people--I mean new to forums, who have no prior experience using them. They're quite apologetic about not being sure if they're doing it right. For them, a clearly-defined link--using the well-established web page protocol of blue being a clickable link--would be helpful.

I -am- feeling your light/dark idea for read/unread, but how about regular and bold blue, instead of gray and black? That would be in keeping with the de facto Internet standard of underlined blue being a link.

Blue--even though I must admit I'm biased, since it's my favorite color!--is more inviting, visually appealing, and has even proven to be calming, while black/gray is kind of...meh.

Can we revisit the 'related threads' issue? I still don't like it, and never use it, but would dislike it less if it was a shorter list. :)

Rob has metrics I assume, but I will say I personally LOVE it! Finding all kinds of threads I'd never have seen in normal browsing.

To be honest, I never even thought of the colour of the thread titles being to indicate that they are links. As you say it's so obvious it doesn't need stating, so I assumed that the blue was just a theme choice, matching the blue banner at the top. And that's one of the problems I have with the black: as well as being jarring in itself, I also find the overall appearance less harmonious.

Let's see how regular black and grey works. I have to confess that I've also found it harder to engage with the forum as a result of the current colours. For me it's made it less readable and scannable, and I've actually found it harder to distinguish read and unread threads (of course there are also more unread ones because I've found it harder to look at and tended to leave quicker).

I'm still finding this to be the case as well. Just now in a section and my notifications said there was a unread thread, I was like, "Where?!?" I checked the name and then scanned section for it and found it right at top where it was supposed to be. Do NOT like the bold black.
