    I've been looking at pushbullet lately but it falls short of my needs due to the following concerns:

    * Open to a MITM attack since it depends on a 3rd party
    * It sucks :(

    Can't help but drool over the idea of being able to send notifications and/or SMS messages to an IRC server instead. I happen to run my own IRC server so can see the utility in being able to specify a server, port, and channel. Of course, not everyone does so if this app were ever created, it would probably make sense to allow the end user to specify the IRC nick to use as a target (unless channel was specified). Either way, the message would be sent to either the channel or nick; whichever is configured. So far, what I've described would be a 1-way style forwarder since I'm not totally clear on how possible it may be to extend this into a bi-directional design like what pushbullet is supposed to be able to do.

    Very interested in thoughts and opinions on this. Thanks in advance....
