FPSe (a better PSX emulator) is out in the market for ~$5.00

I played about an hour into FFVIII this morning on this emulator and it is miles ahead of the abandonware PSX emulator Zod put out. History has repeated itself with Zod where he releases a product that only works about 80%, then stops giving a **** and just forgets about it.

Thank you FPSE devs for putting out something that is already MUCH better from the start.

Great emulator! It runs great on my captivate. I have one question if any can help. How do you save your game? When I click a save it says checking memory card like forever and nothing happens.

Wow, just saw the video. That's bad ass it's point and shoot touch controls for shooter games, can't wait to get my Vibrant back from Samsung repairs and get Area 51 running.

Sigh. Would it have killed them to support eboots? Not the end of the world, but pretty frustrating.

EDIT: Sound errors on Grandia (speech looping endlessly) but at the same time... holy balls, that's fast, and on just a stock 2.2 Desire. Got to admit, that's a pretty good first impression.

I don't want to get burnt by a PSX developer again so I will wait until I see an update or two with positive reviews before making the jump.

I understand where you're coming from, but seriously, this is so far improved over PSX4Droid it's not even funny. It isn't perfect - sound seems to be the weakest area (poorly emulated on some games even with all the options ticked), there are minor graphical glitches, the menus and overlays are a bit hard to get to grips with (options are confusing to navigate and multi-touch is a bit wonky, though that could just be my phone). Plus there are still a few comments on the market with horror stories about how it doesn't work on this or that handset. But hey, like I said, PSX4Droid had slowdown all over the place on my regular Desire but this is just flying along. I can't say they're playable right to the end but Vagrant Story, Breath of Fire IV, SaGa Frontier 2 and Persona 2 are running great inside the first few minutes, possibly even too fast.

This emu has been around for a long time on Windows so I wouldnt wait but it is your call...in the meantime, I am having a blast with it!

PSX4Droid wouldn't work with my GB ROM, even with the CM fixes. FPSe does, and it's rather fast, too.

Thankfully, I only had the light version of the former, but I now have a new emulator. :)

Thanks for the heads up, OP.

FWIW, I can confirm Metal Gear Solid, FFVII, FFVIII, and Dino Crisis are all running perfectly at full speed with sound on my Incredible. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater has some graphical glitches and slowdown. I'll be testing FFIX and Chrono Cross later tonight.

I can't get FF7 to run at full speed unless I turn on frameskip to 10. If I try to play on stock settings, battles slow down a lot. Could it matter that I'm playing a .bin version of the ROM instead of an ISO?

Rooted Droid X running Liberty ROM.
