General Free 3G Hotspot hack still work?

    Does the ##778 trick still work for bypassing the proxy? Can't find a thing about it working on the Incredible 2 like it does on the OG....

    Yes, it works. Just tried it myself. However, I may return this thing if I can't find out if this thing will be rootable as was my Droid 2 Global. I really want to remove the bloatware and don't want to be stuck with a phone that has it.

    How can you tell? The reason I ask is that the hotspot is free and available right now. Is there some way to really determine if the hack works or we're just getting the temporary access?

    if it asks you for a log in and password or to choose a plan on the first page you go to, then it doesnt work. if not, you are set.

    Looks like I'm good for now then. I thought that might be the result of the temporary free service.

    I'll still feel better with root access though.

    always glad to help. and i am quite positive the guys at xda will achieve root soon enough.

    hey i just did this and got some menu to open - how do you open up the tethering?
