On Pi Day, PI network announced that the Pi wallet on the Testnet with Test-Pi will be released on March 31, 2021. PI network seen an increase in reports of potential scams pretending to be the official Pi Wallet. Please wait for the real Pi Wallet release announcement on the home screen here on March 31st, and be cautious of any scams or apps claiming to be the Pi Wallet.

Based on Pi network users feedback, a passphrase (a list of secret words) is much more preferred instead of a secret key, because people can reliably write a list of words for safekeeping. Due to the nature of crypto, it is impossible to find a passphrase that reverse-maps to the same previous wallet address of yours, thus everyone must create new wallets in the update as part of the testing. As a reminder, Test-π is not real π and will be periodically reset for testing. Restart the node UI window to get the update.

The barriers to entry for mining most major cryptocurrencies are currently so high that most participants are excluded. Mining Pi on a smartphone is a simple and easy way to watch cryptocurrency rewards accrue on a daily basis.

However, the value of those rewards requires Pi to gain the traction and usage of the network effect. Only once enough people participate and are willing to transact goods and services in Pi, will the rewards gain any real-world value. In that sense, the success of Pi depends on its ability to reach enough people and enough utilities.

If the project can meet this challenge, Pi has every chance of being a success when it launches on the mainnet.
