Has anyone noticed that available RAM has dropped dramatically after upgrading to 2.1 root? With 1.5, I typically would have around 80 mb of free RAM when there were no active apps running, and now I have usually 50 mb free. I am running Sense-able release 0.7r1, but I've also tried the official 2.1 OTA root and others, all with the same low available RAM.

Is this necessary because 2.1 is more resource-demanding, or is there a work around to boost available RAM?

Where in settings are you seeing the RAM information?

Android 2.1 is very good at memory management, I would not worry about it. With newer roms I have gotten even the most demanding apps to run smooth.
