Note: Does not have an insane chip

Hello All,
I wonder if you can help. For the last 4months I’ve been having issues with my Note 2. It freezes at seemingly random times & requires a restart. Occasionally the LED will continue to flash even though I can’t get the screen to reactivate/ respond. The freezing does occur when the phone is not moved (i.e. unlikely to be a battery terminal contact issue).

The freezing occurs in the following modes:

  • Normal/ standard use
  • Safe mode
  • Charging mode (i.e. phone switched off & then plugged into charger)

It has occurred in the following software configurations:

  • v4.3 (rooted)
  • v4.4 (not rooted)
  • v4.4 (rooted)
I’ve tries the usual:

  • Clearing the cache (via the recovery option)
  • Doing a factory reset
  • Checking for an ‘insane’ chip
& also:

  • 2 different batteries.
I haven’t tried:

  • Upgrading the ‘radio’

I have to at this point suspect that is a hardware issue because software upgrades/ resets have not helped (unless a separate update for the radio could solve the problem).

Has anyone seen anything like this?

Thanks,

Leo
