Help "Frequent Calls" in Dialer app?

I have Cliq XT, Tmobile.

In my Dialer app I have the following four "tabs" across the top:

Dialer
Recent
Voice Mail
Speed Dial

I also have Google Voice installed and don't use the built-in Voicemail app.

My girlfriend has the same phone on the same network with GV installed and her tabs are the same as mine.

However, a friend of mine also has the same phone, same network and also has GV installed, BUT, instead of having the "Voice Mail" tab, he has "Frequent" which shows, you guessed it, recent calls.

He has no idea how he got this.

any ideas?
