Root Fresh Evo 3.1.0.1 now available (based off official 2.2 OTA)

Hey guys can somebody break down kernals...i see everyone on xda saying theyre running fresh on this kernel and that one...do I need a new one and what do they do (I'm running fresh on 2.1 fully rooted with nand)

yes...you must have root in order to install the rom.

as of now, there is no root for 2.2 (but im sure there will be soon enough)

Thanks for the reply. Hopefully there will be a root for 2.2 soon (obviously no guarantees), but in the meantime I can do some more reading and learning about rooting and installing roms, etc.

because the OTA update does not contain the full O/S, it just updates the stock 2.1 to stock 2.2. The Fresh ROM contains the entire 2.2 O/S, modified for his ROM, so its going to be as big as it is.

I use Fresh and I'm loving 3.1, but I will admit to changing the boot screen to the Droid X Boot... lol

Well Im running RC1 and the only thing that does not work @ the moment is 4G,but since I dont have 4G in my area I could care less.I dont know if this issue has been fixed on the latest nightly.

alternative does not compute. theres no 'add ons' without rooting strictly speaking. Its a rooted version of the new OTA. Combined with netarchy's froyoized 3.7.6b kernel, it is marvelous. 55FPS on FPS2D, 13FPS on nenamark1, 44mflops on linpack.

The only downer is wifi tether is not working as of yet.
