SURoot, Rastaman-FB, Lekky, Hadron, Usta, Shauny13, and everyone else dedicating their time and effort creating guides, faq's, toolboxes, trouble shooting, and together create a fantastically generous and helping atmosphere; this has got to be the friendliest, most welcoming forum online, and it's all thanks to you guys!

It was reading your guides and faq's, as well as seeing how generously you helped noobs like me in the forums with their various difficulties, that gave me the confidence to root and flash custom ROM's. I knew that if I ran into trouble, there would be someone ready to help me without the need to first make me feel like a moron for botching it up and needing help in the first place.

I will do my level best to read and learn, so that I may be able to give a little back to this great community...

I say it again: Thank you!!!

The names that the OP mentioned, I just wanted to say Thank You to those individuals too.

I think the level of support here is very good and I do agree that people on here are not intimidating unlike other forums.

I'm still learning and I really appreciate the time people take to answer questions, point individuals in right direction etc :)

I, like everyone else, agree whole heartedly.

I've been lurking for months, and posting only for approx a week. And I've had a lot of help from very patient and knowledgeable people.

If I met you all in person, I'd buy you all a pint!

Yep thank you guys, especially Rasta and Suroot.

My phone may still be unrooted but at least it still works and I am much more knowledgable for when I pluck up the courage to try again!

Just want to add my thanks in here too, I was totally bewildered with rooting but after advice from the rooting crew on here and a few PMs to SUroot (sorry!) I managed to do it and am very happy indeed! Also just want to add, when they all say read the faq, they're not being unhelpful, it's really the best thing to do as you learn exactly what you are doing rather than just following a set of directions.

I would like to thank everybody too, I have a Desire S now but I still drop in regularly. I can trace all know all I know about rooting etc to just 2 sources; my monumental mistakes and this forum.

    Thank You.

I’d like to say thanks too. I rooted last week after months of nervousness, and I’m definitely from Newbury. I did it mainly because my free space was being measured in KB and it was really starting to get on my nerves.

Your guides are brilliant and I didn’t have to ask any question because this is the internet and it’s all been asked before*. I found the backing up, gold card making, and undoing the app2sd trick actually much harder than rooting using unrevoked, which was really quick and straightforward. I wish there was a better way of backing up an unrooted phone though. SMS restore didn’t work for me, it made a backup file but then wouldn’t find it to restore. Anyway I don’t have to do that again. I made a few stupid newbie errors (anyone else looked for the Nandroid backup app on the market?) like messing up with Titanium by tapping backup a second time instead of restore when I had just rooted :(.

So thanks for giving me a new phone! And the confidence go and install Linux on my laptop – that was a piece of cake.

*I do have one small one: I’ve got a T-mobile branded phone. I made a separate gold card and obviously the branding is now gone. Can I flash new ROMs using my usual 32GB card (which isn’t the goldcard), or will that make the branding come back/stop me from flashing? TIA.

You don't need the goldcard when flashing a custom ROM, only for running an RUU.
