From GB to JB: what I miss

I had a Desire HD for a while, now I have a Nexus S. There are many improvements between GB and JB, but I can't stand two things by now:
a)how contacs are managed, can't link those with facebook. But I think that's a bug
b)quick search when dialing: on GB when you tap the phone button, you have a numpad, with both numbers and letters. Then you can start writing the number or the name of the contact and the phone will make a quick search for contacts. Now I can't do that anymore.

Is there a workaround for that?

A. You can download a workaround, since as of Android 4.0 Facebook contact sync has been dropped. Otherwise I use HaxSync it is a nice workaround for contact photos.

B. This should still be active...when I start typing John Smith's number...(111-222-3333), I start typing 111-22....then it pops up with John's contact.

The "smart dialling" feature, which I think is what B refers to, is not a feature of the stock android dialer. So this isn't GB vs JB but HTC Sense vs vanilla Android. There are however third party dialers with this feature if it is important to you.

Yes, HTC Dialer is responsible for the Smart Sync he is wanting. Third party apps are your only option for this..also Hacksync works excellently.

Ok thanks, I will search for a new dialer then :)
