froyo and task killers

On froyo I have noticed that app killer is not killing the apps properly.

When I kill the apps and then reopen them, it goes back to the last screen.

Does this happen to everyone?

Not sure if you mean the inbuilt app killer through the settings or the actual android app.

For me, using task manager 1.11.9 - I couldn't kill tasks since I upgraded. I have to go into settings to force close.

You don't need a task killer on Froyo. You didn't need a task killer before the update either. The only reason to kill an app is if it's badly designed and is constantly using battery power, when an uninstall is a better solution.

I used this the Fomula 1 app today and noticed that when i press home or the back button, the app is still running and download data when i dont want it to. In this case i need a task killer.

Also i find it more convenient of the app opens its main screen first, rather than the last screen it was on.

That is one of the badly designed apps I mentioned then. An app shouldn't keep downloading data when you exit it with the back button unless you give it specific permission to, for things like email and weather etc, and even then they only update on a schedule you set.

To those who say we don't need app killers I'm froyo I disagree completely. When I run froyo without and app killer my evo slows way down.

Still trying to figure out why android Alps can't just have a close button. Dolphin browser closes, why can't other apps ?

Because you don't need to close the apps down. If having apps running in the background slows the phone down, one of the apps is badly coded and isn't idling properly. Well coded and designed apps use negligible system resources when idle.
