Just found this. Hope its not a repost:
So if I've done the manual update should I ignore this should I get it?
Im sure youll still get the update... unless your rooted with the Syndicate Rom.. then of course I would just wait til he updates his rom.. Im sure its just the fixes for 2.2.1
I currently have EB13 and I rooted my phone to take advantage of WiFi Tether. Should I unroot before updating?
If you want to keep root access, it works be wise to wait until we know if EC05 can be rooted.
If you don't care about root access, you will very likely have to unroot so that the update process doesn't fail.
i already have froyo from the first time they sent it out although i update via samsung's website and did the sd card/update.zip file. i'm rooted too. will i get this update and if i do will i have to update??
I am sure it will be rootable by the same rageagainstthecage exploit that has worked before. May need some modifications to the one click root.
Otherwise flashing to the eb13 with Odin would always work, right?
I'm rooted with stock eb13 and am quite happy with it. battery life is dramatically better. what are the differences with eb13 and ec05? is it really beneficial to switch to ec05 rather than just keep eb13?
Great point i did the Stock EB13 with Clockwork 2.5 and RFS
it has been awsome and always wondered do I
#1 allow to update ?
#2 check for super user updates ?
This has worked incredibly well for me and I dont want to have any issues.
and Kelmar, just a shout out alot of peeps including myself appreciate what ya do. TY
finally, i hope this stops my phone from freezing and resetting all the time. I'm ready to do some very bad things to it. I've never hated a phone so much in my life.
EC05, interesting. Well I've been having problems with the modem on my phone. Resetting it doesn't help, and I'm pretty sure it was caused during the update. 3G speeds aren't as fast as they used to be and during calls my phone will "cut out" my voice so while I can hear the other person, they can't hear me, like as if I've dropped that call. We'll see if this fixes anything.
I would not do the update to EC05 unless you want the POS Sprint ID crapware on your phone. My neighbor has it on her phone, and it is a POS for sure, she wishes she never got the phone, and does not want me to root it for her and put a custom rom on it. Heck, even the Sprint tech at my local repair center who I have known for the 10+ years I have been with Sprint told me not to get any phone that has Sprint ID on it. Over at SDX forums there is a thread about it that also says it logs keystrokes on your phone too
currently have eb13 installed by sprint. Am I going to get prompted for update?
Also what is the sprint id for?
From what I have read, I thought sprint id was simply another interface on top of android. "Helpful" for customization. But I haven't read anything about it logging keystrokes. Now, carrier iq on the other hand does do that, but that is present on any but the newest custom roms (syndicate, midnight, etc).
the sprint id app is not the spy ware. it is carrieriq. th epic forums on xda have info on it. many new roms for fryo have carrieriq removed which logs keystrokes and all.
No Thanks... Sprint ID is for the birds and i'm happy without it.
So tomorrow through Friday everyone will get a firmware update from what I read. I am surprised this thread isn't blowing up with questions/comments but I guess we all may be just waiting to see what happens....if anything.
i have a question lol. my phone came with 2.2 but i have all the bugs that came along with it will I get the update as well (with the issues fixed?)
Assuming the bug fixes actually fix anything, you should also receive the update.
Im noobish so sorry if this question is stupid.
When will we get this new update in a form where we can install it via odin? Or update.zip will suffice. I just don't trust Samsung and their f'ed up OTA updates.
So... Sprint is going to try Froyo again, OTA on the 24th.
I've updated my phone via the exe on the Samsung site.
I'm mostly happy with it, so the question is:
Roll back and let Sprint try it again
Keep on going with the 2.2.1
Now granted, conventional wisdom would say that Sprint has fixed the complaints / bugs that came up with the original Froyo push, so it might be worth it to roll back and upgrade. Thoughts, ideas?
From what I understand the update will start today not the 24th
Samsung Epic, Galaxy Tab, and Transform OTA's coming from Sprint March 21 | Android Central
Anyone gotten this yet?
Anyone know if there's an OTW version of this like there was for the last (botched) one?
My epic has sucked so much since the last one, that, unlike last time, I'm in a hurry for this update.
