Stop asking if we're getting 2.2 or not.. we ARE and nobody knows when though. Literally just got off the phone with LG about exchanging my ally for a new one, and such.. of course it crossed my mind so I went ahead and asked if we're looking to get froyo.. he did say YES (not to mention he complained about all the calls they get asking that) they are working on it and it'll be soon.. but no date for me. He said somewhere around the middle of December to early January, but what d they know right.. it's only LG.

Also, use Google, Google is your friend.. there are too many posts that ask this question.. as well as to many people who ask it. Hope it's cleared up for you.

If you we're lazy and didn't read anything read this:

We are getting froyo, they expect it late this year. Of course Gingerbread will be out soon I suppose we get the shaft anyways.

But really, as annoying as the constant threads are, you can't blame people for wondering what the heck is going on... LG hasn't been overly informative on the issue even down to a firm confirmation that they're working on it.
 
LOL I read a few of those links for about as long as I could. Most of them just say the same thing we've all been saying all along - Are we gettin' it? No, we aren't - yes we are in September - no, maybe October - It depends - it will be crippled - it will keep us from rooting - it will disable tethering and Mobile Hotspot... in other words, when we get it, if we get it, what we'll get when and if we get it are all up in the air. And when and if we do get whatever frankenstein version of 2.2, odds are it'll break as many things as it fixes, so I wouldn't be in too big a hurry if I were you to update to it anyway.

I think I'll be sticking with my wonderful rooted, RAPTOR ALLY !! Thank you!

I 2nd that Netizenmt... I think both Trident and KillerTonez make killer ROMs... so even if Froyo came out tomorrow, I'd wait until those guys institute it into their ROMs.

Gingerbread will include optimizations for tablets and will be more tablet friendly. It will of course be available for any device (this includes both phones and tablets).

The chances of the Ally actually receiving Gingerbread are slim to none, and slim just left town. I doubt that the Ally would even be able to handle it, honestly.

Still looking forward to Froyo though..

Afaik gingerbread has no tablet optimizations thats for honeycomb. Im going to try to call our lg rep and see if she can give any info about froyo. My hunch is that its in internal vzw testing seeing as the kernel config from thunderg aka optimus one had cdma msm7627 options unselected but present.
