I think the battery is a little bit better on GB, at least it was in my experience.

Read around. Find out the problems people are experiencing with GB and see if you can live with them.
Personally I can't. But that is just me.

GB is far better than Froyo in my opinion. Even with the random issues people have.

Give battery life a few days to stabilize.

If you wait for the update, who knows HOW long you'll actually end up waiting.

In my experiences, GB is so much better than FroYo was. And now that I'm on GB with a custom ROM, its even so much more better lol. But the only way you'll know for sure is to try it and give a week or 2. Nothing is ever the same for all users. Try it and make up your own mind.

GB has enough serious issues that Verizon halted the update which is why many Xs are still on OTA Froyo. Among the many serious issues with GB on the X is the loss of the data network and the ability to make outgoing calls. You can't even dial 911 when this occurs. You have to power cycle the phone or pull the battery. It's a well known problem that effects safety. Motorola and Verizon had to halt the update due to liability.

There are many other serious problems with GB that occur frequently and have been complained about a lot on this forum. Just do a search.

I had zero issues with Froyo and have had dozens of minor and major issues with GB. It was clearly not well tested.

when i made the switch to GB i went i didnt stay stock, i went right ahead and flashed Liberty V.08 (tried V.09 but bluetooth was unstable for audio playback to my jabra clipper so i went back to V.08) it has been awesome, noticeably improved battery life, everything is smooth. i just switched last saturday and now wish i had done it sooner.
