I really dont think its likely, but does anybody think that us Eris users might get a 2.2 update? If we do get it though, I think we would not get flash.
i thought i read somewhere that froyo was the magic bullet that would put all android phones on the same OS... anyone able to coo-berate or disabuse that notion?
That may be the case with Froyo and Gingerbread. Like any OS though you eventually have to cut old machines off. The question will be if the Eris is at the end of its life in the eyes of HTC and Verizon. A lot of fingers point to yes. You can always root when you feel your phone hits that stage since through rooting you can flash new ROMS long after Verizon stops updating your phone.
I think that we will get it, officially. Only exception to this is what OTD suggested. We skip straight to Gingerbread. End of year regardless.
I think we will. They seem to have created 2.2 with a smaller footprint allowing it to run on older phones. Would make sense and would also end the fracturing of the OS.
It wasn't full flash like 2.2 is bringing to the table. We had a watered down version of flash, as basic as it gets.
Considering HTC's line is that "most phones released in 2010" will receive the update, I highly doubt we'll get an official build. Our phone is clearly not included in that statement so we can just pray for some generosity on their part.
Yes I think we will get it and it will be the last update we will get on the Eris. there is a developer in here that is running it on there phone now.
Imo leak users serve the same purpose as testers that verizon doesn't have to pay. So if there is a leak of 2.2 for the eris, which there is. Then its a safe bet to say that eris owners will get 2.2 in 6 to 12 months.
