Frozen on lock screen?!!!!!??

Help! My samsung galaxy tab 2 is frozen. Worst of all its frozen on the lock screen! So now whenever I try to turn it off then on , it just turns off the screen. Someone please help! I dont want to have to wipe out all my info.

Have you tried a long press on the power button - this should turn the tablet off, rather than just the screen.
