great for the ones buying the Galaxy 2 ;);)

for us, Galaxy owners, it won't affect us too much, excepting what samsung could learn from the Android 2.1...but the Galaxy 2 will be a totally different piece of hardware, so I don't know if that could change anything

Actually I wouldn't recommend Samsung to any of my friends. Bad software support and dubious hardware build... especially now that Samsung has released their Bada OS.

I'm not buying another Samsung at least for a long time.

  5. funny how even that article talks about the galaxy in past tense

"The first Galaxy model, i7500 (pictured), was a high-end Android smartphone"

real shame the way Samsung appear to be handling this whole saga
The phone is still being sold by O2 and emerging as 'new' on canadian markets, yet its at least 2 android releases behind (1.5 vs 1.6/2.0)

As a bare minimum new apps seem to need 1.6

I can only hope that in some way its a good thing and that 2 and above can somehow be ported to i7500, but Im not holding my breath.

once again being an 'early adopter' has bitten me hard, ho hum might learn one day:D

If they use the same secure ril interface we could use it to port 2.0 or 2.1 on the galaxy. If not, the galaxy 2 release isnt much use to us
