Galaxy S II benchmarked, makes other phones cry in shame -- Engadget

The first benchmarks of Samsung's 1.2GHz Galaxy S II -- we saw the 1GHz variant tested previously -- are rolling in, and it's fast. Almost suspiciously so. Its speedy dual-core Exynos CPU pulled off a 3,053 in Quadrant and scored double what the similarly specced HTC Sensation did in Smartbench2011. Those scores also represent a more than threefold improvement over the original Galaxy S. Of course, these are purely synthetic benchmarks and may not translate into an equally improved experience in day to day use. We'll know for sure when we get our hands on one for a proper review in the coming weeks. Full benchmarks are after the break.

Impressive, that's an 1000pt increase from previous scores.

Quadrant score always vary depending on the OS, driver optimization, setting and apps running in the background on phone. But that's still impressive number indeed given that early proto-type unit scored around only 2000. Now samsung seems to have polished drivers, UI nearly to production unit level.
As for the missing competitors here, I recall that Tbolt scored around 1850 before release and some early users reported 1500~1700 range. LG 2X falls in 2400~2700 range. Again that variation range is probably apps, settings.
But I think smartbench is more meaningful measure of these new dual core beasts. Even there Exynos seems to be excellent.

In terms of fairness, my Optimus 2X gets over 3000 quadrant :p

Is that at stock though? most X2 results I've seen show it scoring around 2300.

I'm glad to see the games benchmarks are high too as the GPU was allegedly not as great. I'd like to see a Tegra's Smartbench breakdown for comparison.

Hello Lekky, I haven't seen you since I used to be on the Desire forums every 15 minutes :) Shame you went with the 2X and not the SGS2, you were always very helpful.
