Wonder why the Note 2 was left off the list. IMO, it beats S3 & i5 hands down.

I agree ^ but perhaps arrived a little too late to the party! the GS3 numbers were just too huge to overlook.

2012 has been the year of the Smartphone!

I'm guessing it's because the N2 was a little late to the party, and I don't think it's yet sold in the same large numbers that the S3 has.

Cnet seems to be turning a page. They also had the N7 beat the iPad Mini in the Prizefight even with Apple loving Brian Tong thrown in the loop.
As evidenced by the article, it's ABOVE the mini as well. :)

I'm just going to assume that the shock value of the headline has generated a lot of ad revenue for CNet.

I think the real innovations and such were listed towards the bottom. A 3D printer that can (theoretically) be owned by individuals is WAY cooler than the S3 or iP5, IMO.

the possibilities of a 3d printer are both exciting and terrifying :)

this might give way to a whole set of laws.

No, those laws are already written:

    1) A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.

    2) A robot must obey the orders given to it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.

    3) A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Laws.

i have always felt these end of year lists of great things.. are not really fair.

they tend to be bias to the newest latest thing. things that are currently fresh on their minds. especially in the smartphone market... 6 months is a huge time, let alone 1 yr!
