just purchased Gs3, my battery is not lasting as long as it should. Also cannot shut off wiFi, I shut it off to save battery power, within a short time it automatically goes back on. things are always running, even after running advanced app killer. lastly my battery frequently feels hot. For the most part the phone works great, and i really want to like it, but the battery drain is a BIG issue.

RDK, welcome to Android Forums :hello:

Since your thread isn't related to rooting, I'm going to bump it back into the SG3 general forum where it will attract more attention.

Assumptions about PCs, memory and power consumption do not apply to Android, but we all do/did it with our first Android device :). Every Android user needs to know what's written in this article:
RAM: What it is, how it's used, and why you shouldn't care | Android Central

The bottom line is that killing tasks only for Android to call them back up consumes a lot more power than just letting them sit dormant in free memory. The rule of thumb with Android is avoid task killers and let Android manage memory.

It's more likely that the battery issue is related to certain tasks syncing too often (possibly related to your wifi issues as well). You might want to look into their sync settings and trim them back to once/hr. or so. That would be apps like Twitter, Facebook, email, Gmail, etc.

You can also see what is consuming your battery's power by using Settings > Battery.
