Hi,
I am trying to shoot video and record audio with my Rode Videomic, S5 and a TRRS splitter to connected the mic. However, I've noticed a huge amount of compressed or lower quality audio recording over my test videos. I've tested this on my Note 4 and it's same the thing. I get a lot clearer result using the on-board mic!
I've also plugged the mic and splitter into my surface pro3 and the audio was crisp and clear. My thought here is this:
1) The TRRS jack on the S5 and Note4 are not meant to pickup the same quality as the on-board mic 2) Rather then using the TRRS splitter, use a portable usb audio interface.
Can anyone confirm that is is accurate? Kinda odd that I have this issue on both phones but then again, they are Samsung.
But wouldn't that also mean that devices like the http://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/irigmiccast/ andhttp://www.rode.com/microphones/videomicme would delivery the same quality through the TRR5 jack?
Thank you for the help
